Home Front is a community initiative that draws community stakeholders together for Service Families Areas across the UK and overseas. Its aim is very simple; to help build strong, vibrant, safe and happy communities.
This initiative was led by Ministry of Defence Police and successfully implemented at a number of Defence Community Police Officer (DCPO) locations.
This web page was developed by stakeholders and it was anticipated that as Home Front was rolled out nationally, each team would have a nominated representative to populate it. In the interim, MDP Community Safety Manager, PC Fiona Franklin, looked after the site and managed the @HomeFront4u Twitter account.
Following the MOD‘s Review of Policing and Guarding however, the MDP is undergoing a strategic re-organisation and being consolidated and refocused. As a result, the MDP Community Safety Department is downsizing and the number of DCPOs will be much reduced. Inevitably, activities in the Social Media and Partnership-working areas have had to be wound up since resources no longer permit. The web presence and its associated Twitter account will now be returned to the stakeholders and the @PCFionaFranklin Twitter account will close.
Home Front first launched in Arborfield, where it continues to thrive. Regrettably, it has not reached its full potential, due to relentless pressure on resources across the whole Defence estate.
Fiona would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contributors who have helped to establish and maintain this platform, for their foresight, support and encouragement since the project began and sends them best wishes for the future.
