We’re transporting visitors back in time this Half Term, with the “Home Front Experience” giving a taste of wartime Britain.

Visitors will learn about life on the Home Front during World War Two in a series of fun family activities, finding out about evacuation, rationing, and the menacing threat of air raids.

• Children in 1940’s fancy dress go FREE*
Kids who get into the spirit of the era by dressing up in 1940’s Fancy Dress are rewarded with FREE entry. See below for some top tips on creating your outfit, and our terms and conditions.

• Tour our Home Front House & meet the Home Guard
Free guided tours of the museum’s Home Front House will allow visitors to see and touch a number of original artefacts from the time, and Bovington’s own Home Guard will be on parade to explain their role and demonstrate their equipment.

• Make Do and Mend: Meet a 1940’s housewife
A special guest appearance from a `1940’s Housewife` will see the spirit of `Make Do and Mend` revived through a series of interactive demonstrations of wartime home-craft.

•The Tank Museum Volunteer Modellers
They will be attending Monday 18th – Sunday 24th displaying some of their military models and will be looking forward to passing on their modelling tips.

• Special Wartime Menu in the restaurant
You’ll even be able to try out our special wartime menu in the museum restaurant; with soups, stews and Spam featuring prominently!

• FREE Museum guided tours, tank talks & craft activities
Plus, there will be the opportunity to climb in a tank, try on uniforms, enjoy family trails, tours, and explore the world’s finest collection of tanks: all indoors and all included in the ticket price! Its Tonnes of Fun at The Tank Museum!

Dig out your caps, blazers, shorts, pinafore dresses, duffle coats and gas mask boxes to put together your Evacuee outfit!

When you arrive at The Tank Museum, report to our Evacuee Registration tent and collect your brown identity label before you head on into the Museum to qualify for your free admission.

*Terms and conditions: To qualify for a free child admission, you child must be appropriately dressed as outlined above. A maximum of ONE free child admission will be permitted per full paying adult. A child is defined as being aged 0 – 16 years. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
