MOD Police in Afghanistan

CRESTA civilian element of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan is the Ministry of Defence Police.

Officers first deployed to Helmand four years ago, with the task of moving the Afghan force away from their traditionally paramilitary security role and towards a more everyday police service for their community.

The main contingent of MoD police is at a dedicated training centre, but Forces News’ Julie Knox has caught up with the two-man team of coppers who live at a patrol base, with the job of mentoring district Afghan Uniform Police chiefs.
