There is no under estimating the success of the Military Wives Choirs with their chart topping single, album and more recently their success as part of Gary Barlow’s Commonwealth Choir. There have been award nominations, appearances at a variety of public and private engagements; some with celebrities including Russell Watson and at prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall.
But despite all of this apparent “celebrity lifestyle”, these ladies don’t see themselves as “celebrities”. They are first and foremost Military WAGS and as some of them have pointed out in the past, they might have been performing in The Royal Albert Hall, even for Her Majesty The Queen, but reality is, the next day, they are at home looking after their family, doing the school run and putting the wheelie bin out, often whilst counting down to the end of a deployment.
They have of course raised a phenomenal amount for The Royal British Legion and SSAFA as well as setting up a fund to support new choirs being formed nationally. There are currently well in excess of forty Military Wives Choirs.
Take a few minutes to remind yourself where it all started when Gareth Malone visited Chivenor, just prior to troops deploying to Afghanistan. Then click here to vote for them and wish them well in the National TV Reality Awards 2012. Good Luck Ladies x
